Setting:
The world of Air Gear is set in a world parallel to our own, with certain scientific advances leaps and bounds ahead of ours. Though most of the advances are in the form of, or at least inspired by Air Treck technology.
Air Trecks at a basic level for most people are mass produced self-propelled rollerskates. You can buy them in any sporting store, though they cost about as much as a nice bicycle. They are usually just a skate boot with two thick wheels on each skate. The amazing part of them are the electric engine and the air-cushioning system. The engine at low levels lets users zip along somewhere near ten miles an hour. The air-cushioning system is the real marvel. When a user lands from any height, the cushioning system relieves any shock the rider would feel. Inversely, it can be used to push off the ground with much more force than a normal human could manage, allowing even a kid to jump dozens of feet into the air.
Since the introduction of the Air Trecks over twenty years ago, the world has changed pretty drastically. The Olympics have created all new kinds of events to take advantage of the skates. Across the world new Air Treck Football leagues have sprouted up, gaining a huge following. And in large cities a new counter culture emerged among young adults. These teenagers call themselves Stormriders, forming teams with their friends, and participate in things called “Parts Wars.”
As the price of quality parts increased with the flood of cheap mass produced parts teams would battle each other in different events. Each team would put some parts on the line, or even their team emblem if they had no parts. If they lost a match with their emblem on the line it is expected that the team as it currently is disbands. These Parts Wars are also governed by a website that ranks each team, so that higher teams are known all over as the best.
What seems to be a fairly innocent sport at the lower Parts War ranks becomes a much more dangerous game as you rank up. High level riders user specialized parts in their AT’s making them incredibly powerful. Where low level riders are just normal kids playing with toys, high level riders turn AT’s into weapons.
In the AT world, there are things called Roads, which can be used to describe someone’s riding style. An extremely Flame Road stormrider is able to create flames from his AT’s, and even create the impression of stopping time, while a middle level can create the image of flames on the ground. Other Roads like Wind, Water, and more exist, to fit every single rider’s unique style.
At the top of each Road is a King, a rider who is the best of the best. For the main roads (Wind, Flame, Thunder, Thorn and some more) there are unique AT parts that were released into the world, called Regalia’s. These special parts increase a rider’s ability far beyond normal humans. The Wind Regalia, Moonstruck Drop Bagram, allows it’s user to create giant walls of wind able to cut and destroy anything in it’s path. There are only a few true Regalia’s in the world, and each is highly guarded by the King who wields it.
The story of Air Gear begins some twenty years or so before Ikki was born. A scientist name Minami Rinta created a set of humans in a lab, creating them to be perfect weapons with Air Trecks. He realized regular humans couldn’t use Air Trecks to their fullest extent, and attempted to fix them. They were calling them Gravity Children, meant to be the next evolution of humanity, a new race that could reach the sky on their own. The scientists and Rinta who were in charge of the project deemed many of the children as failures, and planned to terminate them. Unwilling to let themselves be killed, the 28 children escaped from the lab many miles deep inside the planet. They escaped into Tokyo where they became known as the first Kings, and their Air Trecks the original Regalias.
Year’s later Rinta appeared again, with a young boy named Itsuki, who shared his last name. He left the boy with a woman named Rika Noyamano, who had been the second Thorn Queen. She already was taking care of three girls who were second generation Gravity Children. Ikki grew up knowing nothing about AT while the three girls in his new family spent their time riding. The girls had joined a team called Sleeping Forest, who had the goal of keeping Regalia away from normal riders because of how dangerous they are. The original Sleeping Forest that Rika was a part of was made up of the original Kings, led by Sora Takeuchi, the Wind King.
The new Sleeping Forest was led by Kilik, Sora’s enemy. Sora’s plan was to gather all the Regalia’s in the world, and return to their lab where they were born to get the ultimate weapon they had left behind when the escaped, the Sky Regalia. In order to do so, he created a false persona and stayed in the background for years, eventually guiding Ikki to become the new Wind King. When he was ready to begin his plan he killed the Flame King and declared war on Sleeping Forest. He also joined forces with a rogue US General, gaining control of the S.S. Colonel Sanders, the most advanced aircraft carrier in the world.
In this battle between giants over the Sky Regalia, Ikki’s team Kogarasumaru quickly made a name for itself. Within a year it had advanced to the level of the Kings of Sleeping Forest and Genesis, Sora’s new team. Sora kidnapped Ikki’s adopted mother Rika, and held her captive on the Colonel Sanders. So Ikki’s team raided the military aircraft, fighting against most of the original Gravity Children, killing those who stood in their way.
Back in Tokyo, Sora defeated Sleeping Forest alone, and was able to secure the Sky Regalia. Ikki rushed back to stop him but it was too late. The lab, which was at the bottom of a few miles long tower built into the Earth was inversed, creating a tower high into the sky. There Ikki and his adopted-sister and somewhat girlfriend battled Sora and the brainwashed Rika. They raced from the top of the tower to the bottom, unleashing everything they had. Ikki had become the Storm King, a new King with a new Regalia built for him. He was able to create giant storms with his AT, move faster than the speed of sound, and destroy everything in his path with his Wind powers.
However, everything was planned by Sora. Ikki accidentally activated the Sky Regalia for Sora, though they didn’t know what the outcome would be. It ended up causing the giant tower to gather all of Earth’s gravity for a few minutes, creating a worldwide weightless environment. All around the world people had been watching Ikki and Sora’s battle on tv and the internet, and saw the cause of the entire world’s loss of gravity. finaly Sora and Ikki fought hand to hand, hovering hundreds of feet over the ground. Ikki was able to grab the upper hand and defeated Sora, just as the gravity returned.
The battle was over and Ikki named himself the Sky King, the strongest Stormrider in the world. He was reunited with his friends and family, and the world was forever changed by the short time where all humans were able to discover the joy of flying.
Personality:
As a kid, Ikki was always getting into trouble. At the same time, it was very clear that he was an extremely lucky child, who was ‘loved by the wind’. He climbed the top of Tokyo Tower and jumped off, at only 5 years old. He was saved by a giant crow that caught him and brought him back to safety. And that was not even the stupidest thing he’d do in his lifetime.
By elementary school he was already getting into fights with his classmates, deciding to do what he wanted, to live by his own rules. That was always his one goal, to run his own road, to break out of any limits forced upon him. While he may appear crude and juvenile at times, he has won over many friends to his cause simply because of his simple outlook.
He speaks his mind, no matter how stupid he sounds, and loves playing practical jokes on his friends. He taunts his opponents, and generally doesn’t take things too seriously. Only when people depend on him does he get riled up and push his limits. Though he seems to enjoy training whenever he can, pushing his teammates into training with him, and even going off to continue to train when they can’t keep going. He admits that he is only good at the tricks he practices, and his strength comes from practice.
Somehow, he is a true leader, and is always the reliable anchor. When his team is on the verge of losing, Ikki has a plan or scheme that he is able to produce that leads them to victory. He also is willing to put his life on the line for his friends and family. When his friend is seemingly kidnapped he rushes across the city to find her, destroying the car she is riding in, his anger making him appear as a demon. When his adopted-mother is kidnapped he rushes to an aircraft carrier, showing no fear as he takes down trained soldiers with automatic weapons.
One of Ikki’s passions was wrestling. Probably because his eldest sister Rika had been known to wrestle professionally to pay for the family’s needs. He’s watched thousands of hours of wrestling on TV, which he is known to bring up and reference from time to time. However, since picking up Air Trecks, he seems to have given up that side of him. He sold all his wrestling things to buy new parts for his AT’s, and only thinks about AT’s all the time.
Ikki’s weakness has always been beautiful women. And yet, the girl that has always loved him, Ringo, as beautiful as she is, he was too nearsighted to be able to see her as a possible romantic partner until it was nearly too late. He saw her as attractive, which was obvious by the amount of times he would sneak into the bath to see Ringo naked, but he didn’t realize he loved her until much later. His mind was too focused on become better at AT’s, completely oblivious to Ringo’s feelings, even as they were together in Kyoto on what seemed to everyone to be a date.
His greatest strength is simply an iron will. When faced with impossible odds of being a teenager facing a genetically engineered human weapon who had decades of AT experience over him, Ikki never feared losing, and never backed down. When the odds are against him he perseveres, unable to be held down by anything or anyone. This has the downside of making him an annoying person to deal with sometimes, as he has a giant ego, openly referring to himself as the Great Ikki-sama, and expecting people to bow down to him.
While Ikki’s the definition of a delinquent, fooling off in class and interrupting his teacher, he has a serious side to him that he sometimes shows. In his battle with Sora, he had given up his life, and decided to live one second at a time. He told Sora that he was fighting for each and every second, trying to carve a path for himself from nothing. People seem to believe that Ikki’s ability to focus on each second makes him strong in AT battles where the future is never certain. He also has a strong connection to flying, telling Ringo a story about a man who flew around the world in a balloon, uncharacteristically serious about the meaning behind the story. He’s prone to insightful comments and feelings, making him much more than a simple delinquent.
Ikki has no manners. He’s a terrible houseguest who sheds all his hair in the shower, steals underwear from girl’s rooms, and complains about the food. He disrupts his family dinners, trying to steal the last bit of meat on the grill, willing to knock over everything just to get it. He literally took off all his clothes to take a dump while watching an AT match because he didn’t want to miss a thing.
Oddly enough, even though Ikki is a genius with AT’s and even competent enough to perform maintenance on them, he is an idiot with it comes to technology. When he got a his first cellphone as a teenager he had no clue how to work it, causing his friend to ask him what epoch he was born in.
On being in a land In Between Life and Death, Ikki wouldn’t fret too much after getting over the initial shock. Being told that time has stopped at home, would probably excite him a bit as he doesn’t have to worry about rushing home. He’d hope like hell that he hadn't died, but truthfully he wouldn’t focus on that too much. Back home he’s defeated the strongest rider in the entire world, and starting to wonder what else he can do with his life. Once you reach the top where else do you go, that sort of thing. So in this new world full of strong people and a new danger, he would jump into the fray, hoping to remind himself how great it feels to fly.
Appearance:

Abilities:
On AT’s Ikki is the strongest fighter in the world. Even with a pair of regular AT’s, he is able to destroy steel walls with his kicks, jump 100’s of feet into the air, and race at incredible speeds. His fighting skill is nearly unbeatable, especially combined with his AT powers, like control over the wind around his body. With his AT’s he can use his command over wind to create laser beams of air, he can use it to propel himself, and create a space-like area that can act like a black hole.
Given his title of the Sky King, and the unique Regalia in his Air Trecks, Ikki is has access to even more abilities as he learns them. He combines all the other Roads into his, though he is only ever seen using Wind abilities. If fighting a foe where his Wind doesn’t work he is smart enough to figure out a new trick and practice it until he can add it to his arsenal.
Other than Ikki’s unique bone structure that make it a lot harder to break his bones, he’s still human. A gun would put him out of commission if it was able to hit him, and he’s just as vulnerable to illness as anyone else.
Inventory:
Kogarasumaru team jacket, with cellphone and a handful of emblems.
Air Trecks with full Storm Regalia.
Suite: Metal Sector, as he‘s from a futuristic Tokyo. Ideally he’d want to be as high as possible to get the best wind. One floor is fine, as he will probably spend most of his time on the roof or just out and about riding around the city.

Third Person:
The sun was starting to set, and Ikki hadn’t found someone who could give him any real information. It felt like a game where all the NPC’s just said the same lines over and over. He made sure to add that tidbit to the “This is definitely just a game” column in his head.
However, when his stomach started growling from hunger he had to add that to the “okay maybe it’s real,” side. Luckily, he spotted a vending machine and made a beeline over to it, nearly running over a person or two. Of course to the King’s dismay, it didn’t seem to take any of the coins he had in his pocket or his bills.
“Stupid machine, give me your delicious goods!” Ikki was not the type of person to just walk away when confronted with adversity. Not even when the food inside looked terribly old. No, he was hungry and he would have his prize.
So he moved to the side of the machine and pulled his leg up. He swung his leg in a roundhouse kick, the back of his foot meeting the metal machine. However, Ikki didn’t seem to remember how strong his kick would be, which sent the heavy vending machine flying down the street instead of just breaking open.
“Oh...shit,” she said to himself, noticing all eyes on him. He slowly skated over to the machine and righted it back up, making sure to pat some dirt off the side, as if to say, “Good as new!” Then, as the people watched he snatched a handful of bags from the destroyed machine and took off into the sky, laughing maniacally.
Network:
This wasn’t what I was expecting, that’s for sure. Ringo had a BBQ waiting for me back at the house, and things were just looking up for me! Then I get sucked into some alternate dimension that wasn’t even a good plot point in Kamen Rider the first time they did it. Now I’m stuck without any BBQ, and no after dinner rewards!
So, I’m gonna let you know this straight. I’m the Great Minami Ikki-sama, of the greatest team in the world, Kogarasumaru. And a God like me can’t be held in some lame-ass purgatory, so I’ll address the guy in charge right now.
You let me go now, and I won’t turn this place upside down. If not, I’ll make your life a living hell. How’s that sound?
